Inlays and Onlays

Durable, Natural Restorations Made the Same Day

Benefits of Inlays and Onlays

At Dentistry of Upland, we use porcelain inlays and onlays to restore teeth that are too damaged for a filling but not damaged enough for a full crown. These restorations are crafted the same day using advanced CEREC technology, allowing you to leave your appointment with a fully restored smile. Benefits include:

  • Same-Day Convenience – Designed, created, and placed in a single visit with no temporary restorations.
  • Durable Porcelain – Long-lasting, stain-resistant material that provides exceptional strength and protection.
  • Natural Appearance – Custom-shaded porcelain blends seamlessly with your teeth for a lifelike finish.
  • Tooth Preservation – Repairs damage while conserving healthy tooth structure.
  • Comfortable Fit – Precise digital scanning ensures a perfect, comfortable result every time.

Dental Inlays

Inlays are used when damage or decay is contained within the grooves of a tooth, between the cusps (the raised edges). At Dentistry of Upland, your porcelain inlay is custom-designed and milled in-office using our CEREC system, ensuring a perfect match in both color and contour. Because the process is completed the same day, you avoid temporary fillings and multiple appointments. What to Expect:

  • Comprehensive Exam – We assess the tooth and determine if an inlay is the best solution.
  • Digital Scan – A comfortable, mess-free 3D image is taken of your tooth.
  • Same-Day Design & Milling – Your porcelain inlay is created right in our office using CEREC technology.
  • Bonding & Finishing – The inlay is securely bonded and polished for a flawless finish.

Dental Onlays

Onlays, sometimes called partial crowns, are used when the damage extends beyond the grooves of a tooth and involves one or more cusps. They cover a larger area than an inlay, providing extra reinforcement and protection to weakened enamel. Just like our inlays and crowns, onlays are made the same day with CEREC 3D technology, eliminating the need for temporary restorations or repeat visits. What to expect:

  • Tooth Preparation & Scan – We prepare the tooth and take a precise digital scan.
  • Custom Design & Milling – Your porcelain onlay is designed and crafted in-office for an exact fit.
  • Bonding & Finishing – The onlay is bonded securely and polished to blend naturally with your tooth.
