Dental Fillings

Restoring Strength and Protecting Your Smile

Understanding Dental Fillings

At Dentistry of Upland, dental fillings are one of the most common treatments we use to restore teeth affected by cavities, wear, or minor trauma. A filling protects the tooth from further decay, restores its natural strength, and blends with your smile for a natural appearance. Dental fillings help you:

What to Expect During and After Treatment

Getting a filling at Dentistry of Upland is designed to be a smooth and comfortable process. First, we gently remove the decayed or damaged area and clean the tooth. Then, the filling material is applied, shaped, and polished to restore both function and appearance.

  • Daily Care – Brush and floss daily to prevent new cavities.
  • Avoid Certain Foods – Limit very hard or sticky foods that can put pressure on fillings.
  • Routine Checkups – Visit us regularly so we can monitor and maintain your restorations.
  • Follow-Up Support – If you notice sensitivity, discomfort, or a loose filling, our team is here to help right away.

Temporary Fillings

In some cases, a temporary filling may be placed to protect a tooth before a permanent restoration. This is often done if the tooth requires additional treatment, such as a root canal, or if the dentist needs to monitor healing before completing a permanent filling. Temporary fillings are not permanent and should always be replaced with a long-term restoration. We’ll guide you on the next steps to ensure your tooth stays protected and healthy. Temporary fillings are designed to:
